2025 Corvette ZR1 Outperforms Official 0-60 mph Estimate in Independent Test

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has exceeded expectations by achieving a 0-60 mph time of just 2.2 seconds, according to an independent test conducted by Car and Driver. This time is a tenth of a second faster than Chevrolet’s own official estimate, making the ZR1 the quickest rear-wheel-drive car the publication has ever tested. The ZR1, equipped with a 1,064-horsepower 5.5-liter LT7 V8 engine and massive twin turbos, also outperformed the McLaren 750S, a European supercar with 740 horsepower, in both acceleration and quarter-mile times. The Corvette completed the quarter-mile in 9.5 seconds at 149 mph, compared to the McLaren’s 9.8 seconds at 145 mph. Despite weighing 625 pounds more than the McLaren, the ZR1’s superior power-to-weight ratio and wide Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires contributed to its impressive performance. The ZR1 can reach a top speed of 233 mph, far surpassing the McLaren’s 206 mph. Priced from $175,000, the ZR1 is positioned as a relative bargain compared to its $325,000+ European rival, offering exceptional value for its performance.
