Adobe announces Firefly mobile app and unveils latest AI models amid growing competition

Adobe has announced that its AI-powered image generation tool, Firefly, will soon be available as a mobile application on both iOS and Android platforms. The announcement was made during its MAX creativity conference in London, although no specific release date has been provided. The company is positioning the mobile version as a constant creative companion for professionals on the move, allowing users to generate visual concepts and mood boards with simple prompts.

In addition to the mobile app, Adobe introduced two new AI models: Firefly Image Model 4 and Firefly Image Model 4 Ultra, both capable of producing hyper-realistic images. Furthermore, the new Firefly Video Model is now generally available, extending Adobe’s AI capabilities into video generation. These tools have been designed to be ‘commercially safe’ by preventing the use of copyrighted material.

Adobe faces increasing competition from major AI players like OpenAI, which recently went viral with its own image generation feature integrated into ChatGPT, capable of creating stylized anime and toy doll images. Despite the competitive environment, Adobe maintains partnerships with firms like OpenAI, Google, and Runway to incorporate various AI models into its ecosystem. Adobe views this diversity in AI capabilities as beneficial for creatives seeking different styles and functionalities.
