Amazon Introduces Personalized Shopping Feature Using AI to Enhance Search Experience
Amazon has unveiled a new feature called ‘Interests’ that aims to provide a more personalized shopping experience for its customers. This feature leverages generative AI to interpret user inputs in natural language, making it easier for customers to find products that match their preferences, hobbies, or even budget. For example, users can search for items like ‘model building kits for hobbyist engineers’ or ‘brewing tools for coffee lovers.’ The AI tool analyzes these inputs and converts them into more relevant product suggestions, making the search process more intuitive and conversational. Additionally, the feature continuously works in the background to alert users when new products that fit their interests become available, and it provides notifications on deals and restocks. Currently, the ‘Interests’ feature is available to a limited group of users in the U.S. through the Amazon Shopping app on both iOS and Android, as well as on the mobile website under the ‘Me’ tab. Amazon plans to expand this feature to more users in the coming months. The launch of ‘Interests’ is a part of Amazon’s broader push to integrate AI into its platform, which already includes various AI-driven tools like its shopping assistant Rufus, review summaries, and AI-generated product information. This move follows similar trends seen in other companies, such as Google’s recent upgrade to its Shopping tab with AI-based tools.
