Anker recalls power banks over fire risk due to faulty batteries

Anker has announced a global recall of five power bank models, including some from the MagGo and Zolo ranges, after discovering potential risks associated with overheating, smoke, and fire. The issue stems from a defect in the lithium-ion batteries supplied by one of Anker’s partners. While the likelihood of these problems occurring is deemed minimal, Anker is proactively recalling these products out of caution. Affected models include the A1257, A1647, A1652, A1681, and A1689. Consumers in the U.S. can choose between receiving a replacement or a gift card upon submitting a recall claim along with product proof. The recall also includes a directive to properly dispose of the power banks at a lithium-ion battery recycling facility, as they pose fire risks if improperly discarded. Anker is working closely with global regulatory bodies to ensure the recall complies with local safety standards. The recall follows a similar initiative earlier this month for Anker’s A1263 PowerCore model, which was linked to fires and explosions. Although no similar incidents have been reported for the newly recalled models, Anker is acting swiftly to prevent any further issues.
