Apple sues former engineer for stealing trade secrets before joining rival company
Apple has filed a lawsuit against Di Liu, a former senior product design engineer who allegedly stole trade secrets before resigning to join Snap Inc., a competitor. Liu, who worked at Apple for seven years and contributed to the development of the Vision Pro augmented reality headset, reportedly downloaded thousands of proprietary documents from Apple’s internal systems shortly before leaving. These documents contained sensitive product design details, cost, and supply chain strategies. Apple claims Liu transferred these files to his personal cloud storage and then concealed his future job offer from Snap. The company is seeking damages and a court order to return the stolen information. Snap, Liu’s new employer, has not been accused of wrongdoing. The case follows a series of similar incidents where Apple has taken legal action over trade secrets theft, underlining the company’s strict stance on protecting its intellectual property.
