Apple tvOS 26 introduces new design, AirPlay speaker support, and karaoke features
Apple’s tvOS 26 update, announced at WWDC 2025, brings several key enhancements to the Apple TV platform. The update introduces a refreshed user interface with ‘Liquid Glass’ visuals, unifying the design language across Apple’s operating systems. A standout feature is the ability to designate any AirPlay-enabled speaker as the default audio output, making it easier for users to improve sound quality on TVs without dedicated audio systems. The update also introduces a karaoke mode through Apple Music, where users can sing along to their favorite tracks using their iPhone as a microphone, with lyrics and translations displayed on the screen. Furthermore, tvOS 26 offers a more personalized user experience by enabling quick access to user profiles, recommendations, and playlists. The update also includes a new API for easier login to streaming apps, and introduces a multiplatform Games app that integrates Apple Arcade games and titles from the App Store. tvOS 26 will be available in developer beta immediately, with public beta access coming in July and a full release expected in fall 2025.
