A resurfaced 2024 video titled ‘Privacy on iPhone: Flock’ criticizes web tracking technologies, indirectly targeting Chrome without mentioning it by name. The video parodies Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds,’ symbolizing how users are constantly under attack by trackers. Apple’s concerns resurfaced after Google’s announcement that it would no longer eliminate third-party cookies in Chrome, breaking previous promises of a more privacy-friendly browsing experience. Although Google initially scrapped FLoC, its replacement methods raised additional privacy issues. In contrast, Apple promotes Safari as a browser that offers stronger privacy protections. While cookies are not inherently dangerous, they can compromise user data if not managed properly. Apple users in online discussions acknowledge Chrome’s better compatibility with certain business and financial websites but express concern over its privacy standards.
