Benchmark in talks to lead Series A for AI code review startup Greptile at $180M valuation

Greptile, an AI-powered code review startup, is negotiating a Series A round worth $30 million at a $180 million valuation, with Benchmark’s Eric Vishria potentially leading the investment. Founded by Dasksh Gupta after his graduation from Georgia Tech in 2023, the startup previously raised a $4 million seed round through Y Combinator’s Winter 2024 cohort. Greptile’s AI bot assists developers by identifying bugs and errors in code that human reviewers may overlook, positioning it in competition with similar startups like Graphite and Coderabbit. Despite facing a competitive market, Greptile has attracted significant attention from investors. However, Greptile’s work culture has raised concerns, with employees reportedly working long hours, sometimes until 11 pm, as described by Gupta in a controversial social media post. Despite these challenges, the potential investment from Benchmark could prove pivotal in Greptile’s development as it seeks to outpace its competitors in the AI coding space.
