BMW Unveils Its First Fully Electric 3 Series Sedan
BMW has revealed the design of its upcoming all-electric i3 sedan, signaling a major shift in the brand’s approach to electric vehicles. Unlike the original i3 hatchback from the 2010s, this new model is essentially a fully electric version of the 3 Series, reflecting BMW’s move into the electric era. The car features BMW’s new “Neue Klasse” design language, characterized by clean, sculpted body surfaces, a long hood, short overhangs, and a low, sporty stance. The kidney grille is smaller and more integrated, while slim LED lights give the front a modern and sharp look reminiscent of classic BMW sedans from the 1970s and 1980s. Inside, the i3 adopts a panoramic display running across the dashboard, replacing the traditional instrument cluster. Most functions are controlled through a large central touchscreen, and the steering wheel now features touch-sensitive controls. Under the hood, the Neue Klasse EV platform provides dual motors delivering around 463 horsepower and supports ultra-fast charging with an 800-volt system. BMW positions the new i3 as more than just another electric sedan—it represents a broader reset of the company’s design and technology direction. With global energy concerns and rising oil prices, this fully electric 3 Series is poised to make a significant impact on both the brand and the EV market.
