Cybersecurity Startup Spur Raises $200M for Bot Detection Technology
Spur Intelligence, a cybersecurity startup based in Lake Mary, Florida, has raised a $200 million round led by Insight Partners. Founded in 2017 by former Defense Department engineers, the company’s technology helps enterprises distinguish legitimate human users from increasingly sophisticated bot traffic. Insight Partners’ Thomas Krane highlighted the growing threat of criminal VPNs, residential proxy networks, and anonymization infrastructure, which create critical blind spots for organizations. Cloudflare’s recent report indicates that bots now outnumber humans on the internet for the first time in history, underscoring the urgency of solutions like Spur’s. The funding comes as cybersecurity teams face unprecedented challenges from agentic traffic, which has grown faster than anticipated. This investment positions Spur to expand its bot-detection capabilities, addressing a critical gap in enterprise security as digital threats evolve. The deal reflects growing investor confidence in AI-driven cybersecurity solutions to combat the rising complexity of online threats.
