Coimbatore Police Introduce WhatsApp Chatbot for Citizen Services

The Coimbatore District Police have recently introduced an innovative digital service named ‘Kovai Digi Cop’, which is a WhatsApp-based chatbot designed to assist citizens with various police-related services. Residents can access the chatbot simply by sending a ‘Hi’ message to the number 9840091100 on WhatsApp. The service is user-friendly and supports interaction in both English and Tamil, catering to a wide range of users in the district. At the launch event, key officials including the District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, West Zone Inspector General of Police A. Saravana Sundar, Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran, and District Superintendent of Police K. Karthikeyan were present, highlighting the importance of digital initiatives in law enforcement. The chatbot aims to streamline communication between citizens and the police, offering services such as complaint registration, information on legal procedures, and guidance on local law enforcement processes. By integrating technology with public service, the police department hopes to enhance efficiency, reduce the need for in-person visits to police stations, and improve transparency.
