Why the Galaxy S23 Ultra Still Outshines the iPhone 17

The Galaxy S23 Ultra, despite being a 2023 model, still holds a number of advantages over the newer iPhone 17 Pro Max, released in September 2025. The S23 Ultra boasts a higher pixel density, with its display offering roughly 500 pixels per inch (ppi) compared to the iPhone 17’s 460 ppi. Additionally, its camera system remains superior, featuring a 200MP primary sensor, along with 3x and 10x zoom capabilities, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max only offers a 48MP sensor and a 4x telephoto lens. The Galaxy S23 Ultra also has 8K video recording, a feature the iPhone lacks. In terms of charging speed, the S23 Ultra supports 45W wired charging, edging out the iPhone’s 40W. Furthermore, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is equipped with the versatile S Pen and Samsung’s DeX, enabling users to transform their device into a desktop PC, a feature absent from the iPhone. These factors combine to make the Galaxy S23 Ultra a more powerful, versatile option, even compared to the latest iPhone 17 Pro Max.
