iPhone 17 Series Battery Performance Compared Across Models
CNET conducted extensive testing of the iPhone 17 series and the iPhone Air to evaluate battery performance across different usage scenarios. Despite variations in battery capacity, the iPhone 17 Pro Max delivered excellent battery life, easily lasting more than a day and outperforming other models in lab and real-world tests. Surprisingly, the more affordable iPhone 17 matches or exceeds the battery performance of the $1,099 iPhone 17 Pro. Even the ultrathin iPhone Air performed well, outlasting several premium Samsung Galaxy S25 models and consistently achieving a full day of use. Testing included video streaming, stress tests, daily usage observation, and wired and MagSafe wireless charging. Results show that the iPhone 17 series supports fast charging, with the Pro and Pro Max reaching nearly 50% charge in 20 minutes. The article emphasizes that Apple’s optimization of hardware and software allows smaller batteries to perform efficiently. CNET also notes the new iOS 26 Adaptive Power mode, which improves battery efficiency based on user behavior. Overall, the findings highlight that users can expect reliable battery life across the iPhone 17 lineup without necessarily paying for the most expensive model.
