Tesla Introduces 3D Buildings and Enhanced Map Features in Software Update 2025.38

Tesla has rolled out update version 2025.38, introducing 3D buildings in the map view for Model 3 and Model Y vehicles equipped with the AMD Ryzen infotainment unit. This feature allows users to enable 3D representations of virtually any house or building, improving both navigation clarity and map aesthetics. Activation is done via a new toggle near the radar button, with 3D buildings displayed only at higher zoom levels and not combined with satellite view. Additionally, users can now tilt the map view using two fingers on the touchscreen when 3D buildings are enabled. Tesla is likely using the Google API to power the global availability of this feature, excluding China where a different map provider is used. These enhancements point toward Tesla’s goal of merging map data with real-time vehicle visualizations, as hinted at during Cybertruck prototype demos. The update requires Premium Connectivity and is available on the Cybertruck and will presumably extend to newer Model S and X vehicles. This update not only enriches the user experience but also aligns map visuals more closely with vehicle surroundings, aiding navigation and situational awareness.
