Fitbit app update brings dark theme for better viewing experience
The Fitbit app has launched version 4.50, bringing a highly anticipated dark theme to both Android and iOS devices. This feature, separate from the Material 3 Expressive redesign, is aimed at offering a more comfortable viewing experience, especially in low-light settings. Dark Mode is designed to reduce eye strain by emitting less blue light, which can ease fatigue, particularly during evening use. Additionally, OLED screen users can benefit from improved battery life, as fewer pixels are lit up. The update also promises enhanced readability, with higher contrast between text and background. This visual update gives the app a sleek, modern appearance, offering both aesthetic and practical benefits. After updating the app, users can find a new ‘Theme’ menu under settings where they can choose between ‘System default,’ ‘Light,’ or ‘Dark’ modes. Although the majority of the app now supports Dark Mode, some elements might not fully render in the new theme at first. Fitbit assures users that ongoing updates will improve the experience. The update is now rolling out in the Google Play Store and the iOS App Store, but may not be available to all users immediately.
