Pixel Watch 4 redesigns its charging solution with new dock and relocated pins

The Pixel Watch 4 is set to bring modest upgrades, notably shifting away from wireless charging and instead relocating its POGO pins. Unlike the early leaks suggesting wireless charging support, the updated design keeps the POGO pins, but moves them to the left side. This shift will also affect the design of the charger, which will now resemble a dock instead of the typical charging puck. A potential benefit of this change is that the watch could function as a bedside clock while charging, allowing users to easily check the time and battery level. However, this means that existing Pixel Watch chargers will not be compatible with the Pixel Watch 4. On the bright side, the new charging setup could improve repairability, addressing a common concern among current Pixel Watch owners. Additionally, the new configuration might support faster charging, with reports suggesting a 25% improvement over the Pixel Watch 3. Google is expected to include the new charger with the Pixel Watch 4, and it may be available separately for purchase. However, the Pixel Watch 4 will still not come with a USB-C power brick.
