Fujifilm Announces X-E5 Mirrorless Camera with 40MP Sensor and Classic Design Features

Fujifilm has unveiled the X-E5, its latest mirrorless camera, set for release in August at a price of $1,699.95. The X-E5 features a 40-megapixel sensor, in-body image stabilization, a tilting rear screen, and a new front control lever with five programmable functions. Its design draws inspiration from classic film cameras, boasting a single-piece machined top plate with clean lines and a more pronounced grip. The camera introduces a dedicated film simulation dial, offering quick access to six popular presets and three customizable options out of a total of 20 built-in film simulations. A notable addition is the Classic Display Mode for the electronic viewfinder, which mimics vintage camera interfaces with frame lines and a needle-style light meter. The X-E5 is slightly larger and heavier than its predecessor, the X-E4, to accommodate the new stabilization system. Fujifilm also announced a new 23mm f/2.8 lens, initially bundled with the X-E5 for $1,899.95, and available separately later in 2025 for $499.95. The X-E5 continues Fujifilm’s tradition of blending modern technology with retro aesthetics, targeting photography enthusiasts who appreciate both performance and classic design.
