Germany and Israel Collaborate on Strengthening Cyber Defence
Germany is looking to enhance its cybersecurity by partnering with Israel to create a joint German-Israeli cyber research centre. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt made the announcement during his visit to Israel on June 29, 2025. He highlighted the necessity of a robust civil defense alongside military defense, emphasizing that cybersecurity is now a key component of national security. Dobrindt revealed a five-point plan aimed at establishing a ‘Cyber Dome,’ which would form part of Germany’s cyber defense strategy. The collaboration between the two countries aims to bolster both intelligence and security agencies in the face of increasing cyber threats. In related news, Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Soeder also advocated for the acquisition of 2,000 interceptor missiles to enhance Germany’s defense capabilities with a missile defense system similar to Israel’s Iron Dome. This initiative underlines the growing importance of cybersecurity and defense cooperation between Germany and Israel as part of broader security strategies in Europe.
