Girls Who Code Launches Campaign to Promote Inclusive AI Participation Among Youth

Girls Who Code, an international non-profit organization dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology, has launched a new initiative called ‘Speak On It’. The campaign aims to foster discussions about inclusive AI by amplifying the voices of girls and non-binary youth, encouraging them to see themselves as active participants in AI creation. With 71 percent of the AI workforce currently male, Girls Who Code emphasizes the importance of diverse representation in shaping AI technologies responsibly and ethically. As part of the month-long campaign, creators will share their perspectives online, and a special episode of the TikTok show ‘Are You Okay’ will air on 20 October. Additionally, young people can contribute their thoughts on AI via the Hot Take Hotline. Girls Who Code also released a report titled ‘Youth & AI: What Young Women Think About Generative AI’, developed in collaboration with UCLA, examining how Gen Z girls and non-binary youth perceive AI’s impact on their identities and futures. Earlier this year, the organization partnered with OneStream to expand education, mentorship, and career opportunities for young women in technology and finance. This campaign represents a step toward making AI development more inclusive and empowering the next generation of AI creators.
