Google One Reaches 150 Million Subscribers with Strong AI Premium Growth

Google One has reached a significant milestone, surpassing 150 million subscribers globally, marking a 50% increase since February 2024. This growth is largely attributed to the rising popularity of its AI Premium tier, which costs $19.99/month in the U.S. and includes access to advanced AI tools like Gemini Advanced, NotebookLM Plus, and integration across Gmail and Workspace. While it’s not confirmed whether free trial accounts are included in this count, millions are reportedly subscribed to this premium level. Google One, launched in 2018, offers various subscription plans starting at $1.99 for 100 GB of storage and scaling up to $149.99 for 30 TB. Each tier offers additional perks such as Google Store cashback, enhanced Google Photos features, and extended Workspace functionalities. The AI Premium tier, priced at $24.99/month, also includes 5 TB of storage and early access to experimental AI features like Search AI Mode. Despite the high cost, it’s gaining traction as Google shifts its focus to monetizing AI through subscriptions. Notably, annual plans are available for most tiers, except for AI Premium. Further announcements about AI Premium are expected soon, especially regarding potential bundling with other Google services like YouTube Premium.
