Google introduces Web Guide, an AI-powered tool for better search result organization
Google has introduced a new feature called Web Guide, which utilizes its Gemini AI model to enhance search results. The Web Guide curates and categorizes search results in a more organized manner, providing users with AI-generated sections that break down topics into relevant sub-categories. Currently in beta, users can opt-in to this feature through Google Labs. Instead of the usual ’10 blue links,’ Web Guide groups results and adds AI-generated summaries. For example, a search for ‘how to care for a mango tree’ pulls up links with helpful categories like ‘Mango Tree Care in Specific Climates’ and ‘Troubleshooting Mango Tree Issues,’ alongside sources like educational sites, YouTube, Quora, and Reddit. While the AI-generated categories provide helpful context, the descriptions under each category may sometimes feel unnecessary or overly simplistic. Google plans to integrate Web Guide into the ‘All’ tab in the future, allowing users to access AI-curated results for more specific or detailed queries. Users can still switch back to the traditional search results at any time. The feature is available for testing on Google Labs.
