Google Ends Support for First and Second Generation Nest Thermostats Starting October 25
Google has announced that, beginning October 25, 2025, it will end support and software updates for the first and second generation Nest Learning Thermostats, as well as the European version launched in 2014. Although the devices will still allow manual temperature and schedule adjustments, they will no longer be compatible with the Nest or Home apps. Google explained that this decision is part of its strategy to focus on advancing its newer thermostat models with more innovative features. Additionally, the company revealed it will stop launching new Nest thermostat products in Europe, citing the complexity and diversity of European heating systems as a major challenge. Existing Nest stock will continue to be sold in Europe while supplies last. This marks a significant transition for Google’s smart home product line as it moves towards newer technologies and markets.
