Google Launches AI Virtual Try-On Feature for Clothes

Google has unveiled a new AI feature that allows users to virtually try on clothing by uploading a full-length photo of themselves. This new feature, which launches today in the United States, integrates with Google Shopping, Search, and Google Images, allowing users to view how different apparel items might look on their own body. To use the feature, users simply need to tap a product listing, choose the ‘try it on’ option, and upload their image. Unlike previous virtual try-ons that showcased clothing on models, this tool enables a more personalized experience by displaying the clothing on the user’s own body. The launch comes two months after Google’s initial tests of the feature and follows the debut of the Doppl app, which uses AI to allow users to experiment with different outfits and generate AI-created videos of how they would look in those outfits. Additionally, Google is introducing price alerts, enabling users to set notifications for desired items with specific colors, sizes, and prices. An upcoming feature this fall will offer outfit and room design inspiration, powered by Google’s advanced visual matching technology. The new virtual try-on feature and related tools mark a significant step in Google’s push into the AI-powered fashion and shopping experience.
