Tech Companies Restructuring to Adapt to AI Advancements
A new study from Source Global Research reveals that more than half of technology companies are planning major restructures or operating model changes due to the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI). According to the survey, 60% of tech firms expect to invest in organizational restructuring over the next 18 months. The research suggests that the emergence of AI and other new technologies is driving urgent discussions around business restructuring, particularly in the technology, media, and telecoms (TMT) sectors. Many companies are also exploring mergers and acquisitions (M&As) to address talent shortages. The research highlights that while growth in global TMT consulting has slowed, with a 7% increase this year compared to a flat 2% last year, the uncertainty and crises of the past two years are giving way to more ambitious investment plans. Additionally, the study notes that telecom clients are focused on improving tech infrastructure, while media clients are concentrating on implementing emerging technologies. Notable industry shifts, such as Salesforce reducing customer support roles through AI agents, exemplify the broader trend of AI reshaping workforce dynamics.
