New Features in macOS Tahoe Beta 2: Finder Icon Fix and AirPods Beta Testing
The second developer beta of macOS Tahoe has arrived with several new changes and features for developers to test. A notable update is the restoration of the Finder app icon to its original design, following feedback about its previous inverted color scheme. The Migration Assistant app icon also received a redesign. For users who miss the frosted look, a new option in the System Settings lets you enable the menu bar background. A significant addition is the ability to enroll AirPods in beta firmware updates directly from a Mac. This will soon extend to public testers, starting with AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2, and offers improved audio quality for calls, remote camera functionality, and automatic pausing when falling asleep. Additionally, macOS Tahoe Beta 2 introduces the Recovery Assistant feature, a new way to recover devices that don’t start up normally. Other updates include notifications about updates, new testing options for developers, and the phasing out of Rosetta 2 support. The public beta for macOS Tahoe will be available in July, with a full release expected in September 2025.
