iPhone Air Teardown Shows Durable Design and Easier Repairability

iFixit has conducted a teardown of the newly released iPhone Air, revealing a design focused on durability and repairability. The most notable feature is the battery, which takes up about two-thirds of the device’s body. This large battery is identical to Apple’s MagSafe battery pack and can be swapped between the phone and the pack without issues. One of the key design changes is that the logic board is now positioned at the top of the phone, helping to prevent issues like ‘Bendgate’ that affected previous iPhone models. By moving the logic board out of the middle, pressure on the device is less likely to cause internal damage. Despite being a thin and compact design, the iPhone Air has surprisingly high repairability marks. The lack of overlapping components allows easier access to parts such as the battery and USB-C connector, which helped it earn a 7 out of 10 repairability score from iFixit. This design is an improvement over older iPhones, making the device more serviceable without sacrificing durability.
