Intel Prepares Panther Lake CPUs With 18A Node and Xe3 Graphics for 2025 Launch
Intel is preparing to launch its Panther Lake mobile CPUs, which will be the first processors built on the company’s 18A process technology. Slated for an initial release in Q4 2025, with high volume manufacturing expected in early 2026, Panther Lake represents an important milestone for Intel in both its product strategy and broader foundry ambitions. The lineup, branded under the Core Ultra 300 series, will succeed Lunar Lake and is confirmed to continue Intel’s tile-based chiplet design. Panther Lake CPUs will combine Cougar Cove performance cores and Darkmont efficiency cores, alongside GPU, SoC, and IO tiles, and will exclude HX variants initially to reduce power and thermal stress as Intel ramps up its 18A node.
The expected configurations range from U-series low power variants to H-series higher performance models, with up to 4 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores. Some models will also integrate LP-E cores in later iterations. Memory support will be broadened, with compatibility for LPDDR5X at speeds up to 8533 MT/s and DDR5 up to 7200 MT/s. A standout feature of Panther Lake is its inclusion of Intel’s 5th-generation Neural Processing Unit (NPU), delivering up to 180 TOPS of AI compute, positioning it as a strong competitor in the growing AI PC segment.
On the graphics side, Panther Lake introduces the Xe3 ‘Celestial’ architecture, offering up to 12 integrated GPU cores and advanced features such as AV1 encoding and enhanced XMX engines. This step also foreshadows Celestial’s arrival in Intel’s discrete GPU lineup. Overall, Panther Lake is seen as a crucial test for Intel’s technological roadmap and will serve as the first true product to validate the 18A process node. Its success or failure will significantly impact Intel’s ability to regain leadership both in consumer CPUs and the semiconductor manufacturing race.
