iPhone 17 Air and Pro Models to Feature 12GB RAM, Confirming Significant Performance Boost

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air model, known for its ultra-thin design, will be equipped with 12GB of RAM, aligning it with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models. Previously, Kuo only anticipated the Pro Max variant to feature 12GB of RAM, but supply chain developments have allowed this upgrade to extend to other models. There is still uncertainty about whether the base iPhone 17 will include 12GB, depending on supply chain availability, with a final decision expected by May. This marks a substantial improvement over the iPhone 16 lineup, which offered 8GB of RAM. The increase in memory is expected to enhance performance, particularly for new AI-driven features and multitasking capabilities. Even if the standard iPhone 17 retains 8GB, Kuo predicts that all iPhone 18 models will have 12GB. The upgrade is seen as beneficial for Apple’s suppliers, especially Micron and SK Hynix. Apple is expected to officially unveil the iPhone 17 series in September 2025.
