Jamf Releases 2025 Report on Key Security Threats to Mac and Mobile Devices

Jamf has published its 2025 Security 360 Report, focusing on current cybersecurity threats affecting macOS and mobile platforms. Drawing data from 1.4 million devices across 90 countries, the report highlights phishing, infostealers, and operating system vulnerabilities as top concerns. For mobile, the analysis reveals that 25% of organizations faced social engineering attacks, and over half of corporate mobile devices are running outdated, vulnerable OS versions. Additionally, concerns about sideloaded apps and targeted spyware were raised, especially in industries with sensitive data or high-profile users. On the Mac side, infostealers have surged to comprise over 28% of all malware, a dramatic rise from the previous year. The report also debunks the myth of Mac invulnerability, citing critical issues such as the Gatekeeper bypass. Social engineering remains a persistent threat, now leveraging platforms like LinkedIn to target users. Jamf recommends regular software updates, zero-trust security frameworks, and employee awareness training to combat these risks.
