Lexus Introduces Redesigned 2026 ES Sedan with Hybrid and Electric Options

Lexus has unveiled the redesigned 2026 ES sedan at the Shanghai Auto Show, marking a significant step in its electrification strategy. The eighth-generation ES adopts a bold new look inspired by the LF-ZC concept, with distinctive spindle-style front design, angular lines, and modern lighting elements. For the first time, the ES will be available as both a hybrid and a fully electric vehicle, sharing a modified TNGA GA-K platform that supports both drivetrains. The hybrid 350h model will include a more efficient 2.5-liter engine, a larger battery, and optional all-wheel drive. Meanwhile, the electric 350e and 500e versions will offer front-wheel and all-wheel drive options, respectively, with the 350e expected to deliver around 300 miles of range per charge with 19-inch wheels. Inside, the ES boasts a high-tech cabin featuring a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen, supporting dual Bluetooth smartphone connections, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. It also includes sustainable materials like 3D-printed bamboo-look door panels and ambient lighting. A Mark Levinson audio system rounds out the premium interior. Lexus plans to release the 2026 ES globally, including in the U.S., before March 2026, alongside another upcoming EV. The company has also announced a full brand reimagining coming in October.
