Meta Partners with Klarna to Offer Interest-Free Installment Plans for Quest Headsets in the UK

Meta has launched a strategic partnership with Klarna to offer UK consumers a new way to purchase its latest mixed reality devices, the Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S. The initiative allows customers to acquire these headsets through a 12-month, 0% APR payment plan via Klarna, bundled with a subscription to Meta Horizon+. Monthly payments start at £29.99, positioning the offer as an affordable entry into the evolving virtual and mixed reality space. Klarna sees this move as a significant step into the gaming market, which continues to expand alongside the rising popularity of immersive hardware.

In parallel, Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski addressed the company’s controversial use of AI in workforce management during the London SXSW event. While acknowledging that AI has enabled automation and job reductions—shrinking Klarna’s workforce from 5,500 to 3,000 employees—he emphasized a renewed focus on human interaction in customer service. Klarna is now hiring more support staff to ensure a balance between automation and personal engagement. Siemiatkowski underlined that while AI handles repetitive tasks, premium service still requires human presence. The partnership with Meta and Klarna’s evolving AI-human workforce strategy signal the company’s dual push into tech innovation and consumer trust.
