Microsoft Enhances Copilot with AI-Driven Research and Data Analysis Tools

Microsoft has introduced new AI-powered research tools in Microsoft 365 Copilot, aimed at improving in-depth research and data analysis. The new tools, Researcher and Analyst, are built on OpenAI’s reasoning AI models and offer advanced features to assist in tasks like strategy development and client reporting. Researcher integrates deep research capabilities with advanced search functions, allowing users to develop market strategies or generate detailed reports. Analyst, powered by the o3-mini reasoning model, is optimized for complex data analysis, utilizing Python to solve intricate queries. What sets these tools apart is their ability to access both internal company data and external sources like Salesforce and Confluence. However, Microsoft faces the challenge of ensuring the tools’ accuracy, as even reasoning AI can occasionally make errors or misinterpret data. The new features will be available to users enrolled in the Frontier program starting in April, offering early access to experimental Copilot features.
