Microsoft Introduces New Migration Tool to Ease Windows 10 to 11 Upgrades Ahead of Support Deadline

Microsoft is addressing ongoing issues with Windows 11 updates, particularly installation failures affecting many users, including PC gamers. Despite multiple emergency patches, the bigger challenge is the large number of users—around 700 million—still on Windows 10, with just over 100 days left before official support ends. In response, Microsoft has confirmed a new option to help users transition: a PC-to-PC migration feature. This tool, now rolling out in phases, enables users to transfer files and settings from their old PC to a new one during setup, making the upgrade process smoother. For over 250 million users whose hardware cannot support Windows 11, this migration feature—integrated into the Windows Backup tool—offers a practical solution for moving data to a new, compatible device. While the migration tool is currently in internal testing and hidden in the latest Windows 10 build, it is expected to become widely available soon.
