Microsoft Reaches $4 Trillion Market Value, Becoming the Second Company to Do So

Microsoft has become the second publicly traded company after Nvidia to surpass a $4 trillion market valuation, marking a significant milestone. This achievement follows strong earnings results driven by the company’s Azure cloud computing platform, which plays a key role in its AI initiatives. On July 31, 2025, Microsoft’s shares saw a boost after reporting better-than-expected results, with overall revenue rising 18% to $76.4 billion in the April-June quarter. Azure’s sales have reached an annualized figure of over $75 billion, reflecting a 39% year-over-year increase. The company is also anticipating a record $30 billion in capital spending during the first quarter to meet surging AI demand. Microsoft’s significant investment in OpenAI is proving transformative, enhancing its Office Suite and Azure offerings with advanced AI technologies. This move has helped Microsoft’s stock more than double in value since the late-2022 debut of ChatGPT, showcasing the company’s resilience despite concerns over US tariffs and tighter business spending. Meanwhile, its main competitors, Nvidia and Apple, also continue to dominate the tech market.
