Microsoft Issues Emergency Fix for Windows 10 BitLocker and BSOD Issues

Microsoft has released an emergency out-of-band update to address serious issues affecting Windows 10 users following a recent mandatory security update. The problem primarily involved BitLocker, with some systems continuously prompting users for a recovery key upon startup. In some cases, users also encountered the notorious Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). These issues were linked to update KB5058379, which disrupted the boot process by triggering BitLocker recovery screens or causing system crashes.

Microsoft acknowledged the issue and directed users to a temporary fix via its Update Catalog. A support document has been updated with more comprehensive guidance, splitting troubleshooting into basic and advanced steps. Basic steps include entering Safe Mode, checking for hardware conflicts, ensuring sufficient disk space, updating drivers, and restoring the system. Advanced users are encouraged to check the Event Viewer, run memory diagnostics, and perform memory dump analysis.

Windows-focused websites like Windows Latest and Neowin offered additional support, including instructions to disable Intel TXT in the BIOS as a workaround for persistent recovery loops. Once the emergency update is installed, affected users should no longer experience BitLocker or BSOD errors.
