Nadra alerts public over fake visa portal posing as official site

The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has issued a public warning about a fraudulent website designed to mimic its official visa portal. The fake site, accessible via https://www.visa.nadragov.online, is not linked with Nadra and has been reported to collect personal details and payments from unsuspecting users. Nadra clarified that its only genuine visa processing website is https://visa.nadra.gov.pk. Citizens have been urged to be vigilant and only use government-related platforms ending with .gov.pk to avoid falling victim to scams.

In its statement, Nadra explained that cybercriminals are using such fake channels to deceive people and steal sensitive data, including identity documents and payment information. The authority’s advisory emphasised the need for awareness about online safety and encouraged users to verify site authenticity before sharing any personal or financial information.

Additionally, the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (NCERT) has reported that nine fraudulent websites imitating Nadra were identified and blocked within the past month. NCERT’s advisory instructed citizens to refrain from clicking on suspicious links in emails and text messages, as these may redirect to phishing pages. Authorities are collaborating to enhance cybersecurity measures, monitor fraudulent activity, and educate the public about online threats. The move comes as Pakistan faces a growing wave of cyber fraud attempts targeting national institutions and citizens’ personal data.
