Outernet App Transforms Saved Posts Into Real-World Adventures
Outernet, a new app co-founded by Danielle Egan and Athena Leong, aims to bridge the gap between online inspiration and offline action by converting saved social media posts into curated real-world experiences. The app leverages AI to organize user-saved content like event tickets, restaurant reservations, or city landmarks into a centralized interface, eliminating the friction of forgotten ideas. Unlike competitors, Outernet’s founders bring a unique background in creating playful, offline activities such as citywide scavenger hunts and ‘sit clubs.’ The app allows users to save posts from platforms like TikTok or Instagram, paste URLs, or upload photos, with AI extracting details like dates, locations, and event specifics. Features include calendar integration, proactive reminders, and a map view for saved locations. Users can ‘stamp’ completed adventures into a virtual passport, with future plans involving gamification elements like milestone-based rewards. Despite being invite-only and available on iOS, the app has already attracted 18,000 users and is profitable through premium subscriptions. The founders emphasize their mission to connect people with community events and provide a platform for organizers to reach wider audiences.
