Qualcomm Updates Adreno GPU Driver 31.0.121.0 with Game and App Stability Improvements

Qualcomm has released a new Adreno GPU driver, version 31.0.121.0, for the Snapdragon X Elite platform. The update focuses on enhancing game stability and performance for titles such as DIRT 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, Fortnite, and others. Additionally, improvements have been made to applications like AutoCAD and Adobe Camera Raw, and display reliability has been enhanced with better DisplayPort 1.1 HBR2 support and fixes for pixel rate and mode selection issues. The update also adds OpenCL support for software developers through the cl_khr_external_semaphore_dx_fence extension. Despite these improvements, many users continue to express frustration with Qualcomm’s slow update frequency, limited OEM support, and occasional instability when manually installing drivers. The Adreno X Elite GPU is currently suitable for light gaming and emulation, but performance remains limited compared to dedicated gaming GPUs. The upcoming Adreno X2 GPU in the Snapdragon X2 Elite is expected to double performance, potentially offering smoother gaming experiences. Overall, this driver release addresses stability and compatibility issues but highlights ongoing challenges for Qualcomm in meeting user expectations for regular and reliable GPU updates.
