Samsung introduces advanced security upgrades in One UI 8 for Galaxy smartphones

Samsung has unveiled significant security improvements for its upcoming Galaxy smartphones with the release of One UI 8. These upgrades focus on enhancing data protection and privacy. One of the key innovations is Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), which supports Samsung’s Personal Data Engine and other AI-driven features like ‘Smart Suggestions’ and ‘Smart Gallery Search.’ KEEP provides a more robust security architecture than the previous Secure Folder by isolating sensitive data in encrypted environments, ensuring it remains protected from unauthorized access. Additionally, Samsung’s multi-device platform, Knox Matrix, will be upgraded to automatically detect security breaches, such as identity manipulation, and lock out attackers from accessing cloud data across all connected devices. Another major addition is the introduction of post-quantum cryptography in Samsung’s Secure WiFi, which will use NIST-certified ML-KEM to defend against future quantum-based cyberattacks. These new features also include improved WiFi security on public hotspots, enhanced encryption, and better anonymization through multi-point routing. One UI 8 is set to roll out with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, with older Galaxy models receiving the update soon. Users are encouraged to update their devices to benefit from the enhanced protections and privacy settings.
