Samsung’s 2025 Foldables: New Features and Challenges Ahead
Samsung is gearing up for its Unpacked event on July 9, 2025, where it will showcase its latest foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra and Z Flip 7. The company hopes to attract more buyers with these new models, which will feature slimmer designs, improved durability, and possibly lower prices. Samsung’s foldable market share has struggled to grow, despite multiple iterations over the years. The Z Fold 7 Ultra will have a thinner profile, aiming to compete with Honor and Oppo’s recent foldable efforts, while the Z Flip 7 might come with a larger front screen similar to Motorola’s Razr. However, Samsung still faces challenges, including the higher price points and durability issues of foldable devices. These phones are more prone to dust damage compared to traditional flagship phones, and despite Samsung’s past efforts, they are still not fully dustproof. Analysts are hopeful that the anticipated release of an Apple foldable in 2026 could help expand the foldable market and boost Samsung’s sales. The company’s new models will likely cater to different price segments in an attempt to reignite interest and increase market share.
