Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Ultra-Thin Design with Notable Battery Trade-Offs

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy S25 Edge, its newest ultra-thin smartphone, at a starting price of $1,100. The device stands out for its sleek design, measuring just 5.8 mm thick and weighing 163 grams, making it lighter and thinner than many competitors, including the iPhone 16. The Edge features a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage. However, the major trade-off is its 3,900-mAh battery, which is even smaller than the base Galaxy S25’s and could struggle to deliver lasting performance for heavy users.Despite its reduced battery capacity, Samsung claims optimizations allow for all-day battery life under normal use. The Edge includes premium materials like a titanium frame and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, but omits features such as a telephoto camera and the faster 45-watt charging seen in the S25 Ultra. Instead, it supports 25-watt wired and 15-watt wireless charging. Its camera system includes a 200 MP main sensor and a 12 MP ultrawide lens, with software-based zoom enhancements. The phone will be released officially on May 30 and is aimed at users seeking a large-screen phone without the usual bulk, though battery limitations remain a key consideration.
