Interstellar Arc: A Premium, Large-Scale VR Experience in Las Vegas Blends Real Space Themed Narrative with Shared Immersive VR

Interstellar Arc, the new immersive VR attraction in Las Vegas’s Area15, combines a 20,000-square-foot physical space with a large-scale, shared virtual journey to Arcadia, a fictional exoplanet. The experience, created by Felix & Paul Studios, utilizes advanced VR hardware, including wireless Quest 3S headsets, for a cohort of up to 170 participants per session. Visitors begin in a spaceport lobby, then board a virtual Arc where they undergo cryogenic sleep and enter Cosmopolis, a sprawling, multi-dimensional metropolis that feels enormous due to strategic redirection technology. A virtual guide fox and holographic figures, including a Carl Sagan likeness, guide and inform guests as they traverse elevated pathways and artificial terrains. The setup emphasizes physical safety rails and a ceiling-based infrared grid to maintain precise tracking across many players, addressing common VR tracking challenges in crowded environments. The piece highlights the technical innovations behind redirection, spatial mapping, and multi-user synchronization, as well as the potential for ‘holodecks’ in entertainment, training, or work. In interviews, the creators acknowledge that the current hardware will evolve, and that newer headsets will require adaptation. Industry observer Andy Etches notes that such experiences could accelerate VR adoption by providing compelling, shareable experiences that aren’t possible at home. While the event currently exists only in Las Vegas, its success could influence broader VR development and consumer interest in immersive storytelling.
