JetBlue Chooses Amazon’s Project Kuiper for In-Flight Wi-Fi, Becomes First Airline to Sign On

Amazon’s Project Kuiper has secured its first airline partnership with JetBlue, which will begin using the company’s satellite internet service for in-flight Wi-Fi starting in 2027. This partnership marks a significant step for Amazon’s satellite broadband initiative, especially as other airlines have already committed to using SpaceX’s Starlink service. Project Kuiper, which is still in its early stages with only 102 of its planned 3,200 satellites in orbit, aims to accelerate its deployment. Despite being in a nascent phase, Amazon’s ambitious goal is to offer internet services to users later this year, continuing to expand coverage and capacity. JetBlue’s decision reflects the growing demand for high-speed, reliable Wi-Fi on flights, allowing passengers to stay connected for work or leisure. Meanwhile, Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite network, remains a dominant player in this field, providing coverage to airlines like Alaskan, Hawaiian, and United. Additionally, Amazon has also teamed up with Airbus to integrate Project Kuiper into their aircraft.
