Spotify Introduces AI-Generated Ads and Programmatic Ad Buying

Spotify has announced significant changes to its advertising platform, including the introduction of AI-generated ads and a new programmatic ad-buying system. The company unveiled the updates at an event in New York City, emphasizing how these innovations aim to enhance advertiser reach and engagement. The new programmatic platform, called the Spotify Ad Exchange (SAX), allows advertisers to bid in real-time to target Spotify’s logged-in users. The service is launching with partnerships including Google’s Display & Video 360, Magnite, and The Trade Desk, with additional partners expected soon. SAX supports various ad formats, including audio, video, and display, across Spotify’s music content, with podcast support coming later.

In addition, Spotify is leveraging generative AI to help marketers create audio ad scripts and voiceovers using its Spotify Ads Manager tool. This feature, initially available in the U.S. and Canada, is offered at no extra cost to advertisers. The company highlighted the effectiveness of these tools in reaching Gen Z audiences, who make up 251 million of Spotify’s users. By integrating AI-driven ad solutions, Spotify aims to attract more advertisers and streamline the ad creation process, reinforcing its role as a leader in digital audio advertising.
