Sundar Pichai Discusses Agentic Capabilities and XR Glasses in Alphabet’s Q2 2025 Earnings Call

In Alphabet’s Q2 2025 earnings call, CEO Sundar Pichai spoke about the future of agentic experiences and the development of XR glasses. He highlighted that the Gemini 2.5 series, particularly the Pro model, was designed with agentic capabilities in mind. Pichai also teased upcoming advancements, especially in unreleased models, and stated that the company is focused on improving reliability, latency, and cost. Pichai predicts that 2026 will be the year when agentic experiences are more widely used. On the topic of XR glasses, he shared his enthusiasm for Google’s investments in this technology but emphasized that phones will remain the dominant device in the near future, likely for the next two to three years. Google’s partnerships with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to create stylish Android XR glasses were also discussed. Furthermore, Pichai spoke about the growth of Alphabet since its formation in 2015, especially the progress of YouTube and Cloud, which reached an annual run rate of $110 billion by 2024. Looking forward, he expressed excitement about advancements in AGI and Google’s efforts to make sure it benefits everyone.
