SwitchBot Hub 3 Introduces Physical Controls and Matter Support

SwitchBot is set to release a new Matter-enabled smart hub, the SwitchBot Hub 3, according to a recent registration with the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA). This new device builds upon its predecessor, the Hub 2, by integrating a display along with physical controls, including a multifunctional knob. The knob allows users to adjust settings such as thermostat temperature and media volume, with compatibility for Apple TV, Spotify, and other platforms. Additional physical buttons include a home button, a back button, and a customizable ‘S’ button.

The Hub 3 features four customizable quick-scene buttons that enable one-touch activation of preset smart home modes. Its display, which activates upon detecting motion or gestures, provides real-time updates on indoor temperature, humidity, third-party weather forecasts, and door lock status. Furthermore, it supports voice control through Alexa and Google Assistant, as well as SwitchBot’s Bluetooth-connected smart devices, which it bridges to Matter for broader compatibility with Apple, Google, Amazon, and Samsung smart home ecosystems.

Although SwitchBot has not yet officially announced the Hub 3 or provided a release date, this development adds to the company’s growing lineup of innovative smart home products, including a universal Matter smart remote and various retrofit automation devices.
