Tanzania and Russia Partner on Technology to Boost Innovation and Economic Growth

Dar es Salaam witnessed a major step in Tanzania-Russia relations as Tanzania’s Gen Z Corporation Limited signed a technological cooperation deal with Russia’s Innopraktika. The signing, observed by Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, aims to promote innovation, economic growth, and technological advancement in Tanzania. Minister Kombo highlighted that this agreement is a strong sign of renewed commitment between the two countries to strengthen ties in modern technology. The partnership comes at a strategic moment, coinciding with Tanzania’s new Foreign Policy which prioritises economic diplomacy, positioning technology and innovation as crucial for sustainable development. Advanced technologies from Innopraktika are expected to enhance efficiency in sectors like agriculture, mining, transport, communications, and natural resources. The Russian side also proposed setting up a technology hub in Tanzania, which aligns with the country’s goal to become a regional ICT centre. The event gathered experts from the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), Foreign Affairs Ministry officials, and company representatives, showing collaborative engagement across government and private sector stakeholders.
