Tapo Introduces New 4K Security Cameras with Local Recording and Matter Hub Integration

TP-Link has unveiled a new range of security cameras under its Tapo brand, featuring 4K resolution and advanced capabilities like local recording and solar power. The cameras include both outdoor and indoor options, such as the $149.99 Tapo MagCam 4K Solar and the $169.99 Tapo VistaCam 360 Solar, which can record 24/7 using battery power and solar charging. These cameras use a unique adjustable frame rate to conserve battery while offering high-quality footage when motion is detected. The Tapo HomeBase H500 hub, which integrates facial recognition and local storage, acts as the first Matter controller for Tapo devices, allowing for integration with non-Tapo smart home products. While cameras aren’t currently supported by the Matter protocol, TP-Link plans to offer support once cameras are included. The cameras also feature AI-powered alerts, local storage options via microSD or the HomeBase, and optional cloud storage. Other new models include the Tapo RoomCam360, which offers 360-degree horizontal coverage, and the Tapo HybridCams series, with dual-lens options for comprehensive monitoring.
