TF1+ Introduces Micropayment Options to Watch Content Ad-Free Starting This Autumn
TF1, the French broadcaster, plans to launch a new micropayment system on its streaming platform TF1+ starting this autumn. This initiative will allow viewers to opt out of advertisements by paying small fees starting at €0.69. Subscribers can watch programs without commercials and also access early releases of episodes from series, soap operas, and TV movies. Additional exclusive content will be available related to major event programming, such as the live Star Academy channel. One highlighted offer lets viewers pay £0.99 to watch an advertisement-free version of the show The Voice, saving them 24 minutes of viewing time and helping parents get children to bed earlier. The broadcaster emphasizes that this transaction-based model is inspired by proven mobile sector economic frameworks. Claire Basini, Deputy General Manager of TF1 Group responsible for BtoC activities, explains that this innovation caters to user demand for flexible viewing options, enabling them to pay only for content they truly want at an affordable price. TF1+ currently attracts over 39 million streamers monthly and offers more than 30,000 hours of content, making this new paid micropayment system a significant step towards diversifying its revenue streams and enhancing user choice.
