Apple Stores Revamp ‘Other’ Section to Introduce New HomePod Products
Apple is reportedly transforming the ‘Avenues’ section in its stores, traditionally used for third-party gadgets like dongles and Play-Doh sets, to showcase its long-rumored Siri-powered HomePod products. The redesign aims to create an interactive experience for customers unfamiliar with smart home hubs. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new layout will feature a 7-inch display-equipped home hub running a mobile-style OS, capable of integrating with IoT devices like doorbell cameras and managing household tasks via facial recognition. This shift highlights Apple’s strategy to position HomePod as a central smart home controller, addressing limitations of current store layouts that hinder product demonstrations. While Beats headphones and Apple TVs already occupy the Avenues, the updated space will prioritize showcasing the new hub’s capabilities, such as custom interactions for different family members. The changes reflect Apple’s broader push into the smart home market, leveraging its retail network to educate consumers about emerging technology.
